Effectiveness of protected areas for the conservation of the andean bear, Tremarctos ornatus

What is the aim of the review?
To assess the effectiveness of protected areas as a conservation measure for the Andean bear, by addressing the following questions:

  • "Are protected areas effective in conserving little or undisturbed forest vegetation, within the mountain distribution of the Andean Bear?"
  • What is the effect of: (1) size and shape, (2) isolation, (3) main habitat type, (4) altitudinal gradient available and (4) type on the effectiveness of Protected Areas to preserve Andean bear habitat?
