The Ecological Methods Group (EMG) comprises individuals who are involved or interested in the conduct of systematic reviews. Our role is to advise the Collaboration for Environmental Evidence regarding methods for meta-analysis and systematic review more widely. |

The broad aims of our methods group are to facilitate and promote the thoughtful and critical use of meta-analysis for research synthesis in ecology, and to improve the power and rigour of ecological meta-analysis
Activities
The Ecological Methods Group bases its activities around six core functions.
These are:
- Providing policy advice to the steering group and committee of the Collaboration.
- Providing training and support for reviewers through workshops.
- Conducting methodological research e.g. searching, bias, exploring heterogeneity, Bayesian analysis, impact of missing data, cumulative meta-analysis, and qualitative research methods.
- Helping to monitor the quality of systematic reviews.
- Facilitating the development of an evidence-based approach to environmental management with concurrent changes in scientific paradigm.
- Serving as a forum for discussion.
